The terrible news reaches us today, that Michael Robinson after a long fight, was defeated by cancer.
It is one of the largest, if not the “greatest” in his field.
The former professional player from Preston, Manchester City, Brighton, Queens Park Rangers and Liverpool, changed 1987 to Spain to Osasuna and found his new home there. He learned the Spanish language extremely quickly and to perfection with a unique English accent that made him unique.
He started his real career after playing football as a commentator for various Spanish radio stations- and TV channels. Starting with the World Cup 1990 in Italy, should a commentator grow up here, like no other in the world 2. Times there. Not just his clean character and his honest and direct manner (he never took a leaf from his mouth!), but especially his infinite knowledge of global football. It seemed to be a walking encyclopedia of football, with clairvoyant skills and an almost perfect player potential, Analyze teams and tactics dynamically and reproduce them in simple words.
It is common in Spain, that 2-3 Commentators comment on a game, the quality is always very high. But when Michael commented on a game, it was like watching a Lionel Messi at work, to listen in his case. In about 20 You can’t remember a game for years, about which one could have contradicted him in anything.
A man, that ALWAYS hit the nail on the head, without leaving someone in a bad light.
A gentleman and an expert in football leaves a hole that cannot be filled.
Our heart cries. Take care, we already miss you!
R.I.P. – Rest in peace, friend!
